History
The Hanko plant was built in 1972 by Fermion as a penicillin plant.
Finnish Sugar Company (Cultor) bought the factory in 1977 to biotechnology products, and enzyme production started in 1982.
In 1990, when the joint venture between Cultor and Eastman Kodak began, the Hanko plant was incorporated into Genencor International. Since then, large investments have been made to increase fermentation and recovery capacity. First granulation batch made in 1996 and it was followed by several granulation capacity expansions. The Granulation Competence Center (Solid formulations development facility) started in 2003 and more expansions of fermentation and granulation capacity have been made during 2006-2007.
Hanko site has an integrated management system that consists of ISO 9001 (since 1994), ISO 14001 (since 1999), OHSAS 18001 (since 2003) and FAMI-QS (since 2006).
