The site

The company produces:

  • Sugar beet seed
  • Fodder beet seed
  • Seed for vining and protein peas

The site also houses sales and marketing, R&D activities and analytical laboratories. In total, around 140 people are employed at Holeby.

History
The company dates back to 1920. The Danish Sugar Factories - today Danisco Sugar - set up Danisco Seed in order to secure the supply of sugar beet seed and improve the sugar yield. Since then, we have developed into an international company with subsidiaries and sales offices across Europe.
Local community & environment
Danisco Seed is placed in Holeby, a small community with a population of around 4,000 at the centre of Lolland-Falster. Danisco Seed is the second largest employer in Holeby.

Lolland-Falster offers nice houses at reasonable prices. In addition there is a lovely natural environment with water, woods, fresh air and wide-open spaces. There are several cultural activities, including museums and exhibitions.

Location
Holeby is located on the island of Lolland in the southern part of Denmark, a 2-hour car ride away from Danisco's headquarters in Copenhagen where you also find Copenhagen Airport, offering worldwide connections. A bit closer to Holeby, only 15 minutes away, you will find Rødbyhavn, offering ferries to Germany.
