A Danisco division

A Danisco division

Genencor is a Danisco Division (www.danisco.com), a multinational ingredients company.

A great alliance

Danisco acquired Genencor in 2005 to expand its position as a leading supplier of food ingredients and to diversify into growing industrial biotechnology markets. With the acquisition, Danisco became the second largest supplier of industrial enzymes in the world.

About Danisco

Founded in 1989, Danisco is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, and today has more than 10,500 employees in 40 countries. Some Danisco facts:

  • Based on our technology platform, we use nature's own raw materials and resources to develop and produce ingredients for food and other products used in everyday life.
  • Danisco ingredients are used in about every second ice cream and cheese container, every third box of laundry detergent, and every fourth loaf of bread produced globally.
  • Danisco ingredients based on food technology and biotechnology are also used in a wide range of other consumer products - from animal feed and toothpaste to ethanol fuel and plastics.
  • Sustainability is integrated in Danisco's way of doing business.
  • Danisco is one of Europe’s largest and most efficient sugar producers.
Research and development focus

Danisco emphasizes research and development, and a considerable proportion of its employees focus on developing new and more consumer friendly products for the international food industry. Today, Danisco’s Research and Development Group holds more than 4,800 active patents worldwide and nearly 3,000 patent applications.
