Danisco acquired Genencor in 2005 to expand its position as a leading supplier of food ingredients and to diversify into growing industrial biotechnology markets. With the acquisition, Danisco became the second largest supplier of industrial enzymes in the world.

Research and development focus

Danisco emphasizes research and development, and a considerable proportion of its employees focus on developing new and more consumer friendly products for the international food industry. Today, Danisco’s Research and Development Group holds more than 4,800 active patents worldwide and nearly 3,000 patent applications.
