Genencor has developed a three-pronged approach to implement sustainability - people, planet, and profit. We use these terms to represent the three pillars of sustainability (ie, social, environmental, and economic).
The 3 dimensions of sustainability
As a leader in industrial biotechnology, we apply our innovation and collaborate with governmental, corporate, and academic leaders to cover all three aspects of sustainable development:- In the social sphere, which includes providing for the health and well-being of our employees and the communities in which we work. An example in the social sphere is by increasing demand for biomass or agricultural waste products, we can help improve the economic lot of farmers and reinvigorate rural communities.
- In the environmental sphere, our bioprocesses help reduce pollution and more efficiently use natural resources.
- In the economic sphere, we reduce production costs through improved efficiencies and enhance product quality and benefits.
