Biochemicals

Genencor believes that biotechnology has an ever-growing place in the production of chemicals and is helping lead the way in this emerging field.

We also believe that combining biotechnology and chemistry will have a major positive impact on the economy and the environment. This process of applying nature’s toolset to industrial production is often referred to as industrial biotechnology and is one of Genencor’s specialties.

Reducing the chemical footprint

The chemical industry increasingly looks to industrial biotechnology because it has shown substantial potential to reduce the environmental impact or footprint of chemical production.

Industrial biotech provides a clean production process that minimizes industrial waste before it is even produced.

Gateway to a greener future

In fact, a recent study conducted by the Oeko Institute, McKinsey & Company, and others indicated that white (industrial) biotechnology increases process efficiency and uses renewable feedstocks to reduce the following:

  • Carbon dioxide emissions (in turn, reducing global warming)
  • Air and water pollution
  • Use of finite natural resources

These are just a few of the reasons the use of biotechnology in chemical production is sometimes referred to as the gateway to a more sustainable future. And Genencor intends to lead the way!

We often collaborate with other organizations to bring new, sustainable solutions to market. If this sounds like you, then read more about working together and contact our Business Development Department.
