Biorefineries

One of Genencor’s key areas of development is producing cellulosic ethanol fuel from agricultural and forestry byproducts, such as corn stover and corn fiber, wood chips, wheat straw, switch grass, and paper pulp.

We’ve successfully produced ethanol fuel from corn for years. We’re now building on this success to move to the second generation of ethanol fuel sources. Genencor is now working with strategic governmental and corporate partners around the world to efficiently and cost-effectively produce this same effective ethanol fuel from agricultural residues.

We’re currently working on pilot programs to do just this. Our success in this endeavor will represent great strides in moving toward a biobased, sustainable future.

Clean, efficient fuel

Fuel produced from biomass offers many advantages, including:

  • Increases environmental responsibility - reduces pollution and environmental impact from oil refineries, reduces use of finite natural resources, increases safety and efficiency of fuel production
  • Decreases fuel production costs
  • Provides economic benefits to the agricultural sector and rural economies by making use of waste products
  • Decreases our dependence on finite petroleum resources

We often collaborate with other organizations to bring new, sustainable solutions to market. If this sounds like you, then read more about working together and contact our Business Development Department.
