Pathway engineering

Modifying a cell’s physiology to improve its capacity to overproduce a desired molecule for industrial use is referred to as Pathway Engineering.

We use DesignPath®, an approach based on mathematical models and proprietary algorithms, to predict the right gene combination to trigger a cell to overproduce a desired protein with minimal undesired by-products.

Our DesignPath® strategy for pathway engineering culminates from decades of experience in developing processes for the production of fine chemicals, vitamins, and animal nutritional aids.

Integrating this knowledge and expertise with a customer’s needs, cost targets and production requirements, is at the core of our DesignPath® strategy.

Maximizing Product Output

The ability to modify organisms to enable rapid and ecologically safe production of biomolecules for commercial applications has the potential to revolutionize the chemical industry.

Genencor has developed a proprietary Biocatalytic Operating Systems (BOS™) to fulfill the demands of the commercial process, as well as the physiological requirements of the production strains.

Our in-vitro systems, viz, Continuous Biocatalytic Systems (CBS™) utilize cell-derived components like enzymes, proteins, membranes, etc. to obtain commercially relevant products. These are assembled to deliver the product(s) at the rate, cost, and yield required for a robust commercial process.

To obtain a product through CBS™, we assemble the minimal set of reactions and processes needed to obtain the product.
