Proteome and tools

Genencor invests in proteomics, a discipline that complements genomic research.

Within the proteomics platform, our scientists study the characteristics, function, and nature of protein-protein, protein-RNA, and protein-DNA interactions.

Differential proteomics makes qualitative and quantitative comparisons of proteomes under different conditions. This knowledge enables us to unravel the mysteries of biological processes. (A proteome is the full complement of proteins an organism expresses.)

Tools of the trade

The proteomics field requires use of high accuracy, high throughput tools, such as:

  • Multi-dimensional chromatography and 2D page electrophoresis for upstream separation
  • State-of-the-art equipment, such as MALDI-TOF, Q-TOF, and Ion Trap LC/MS/MS to perform mass spectrometry analyses
  • Automated spot picking robot for rapid single protein identification
